ILG Appoints Service Users at HQ

2 May 2008: ILG has announced the appointment of two Kent-based service users as Quality Assurance Assistants.  Both will be attending the company’s head office one day per month to create new initiatives for service users at ILG homes.

Craig from Wildacres (Ashford) and Chris from West Dene (Sittingbourne) will be reporting to Pat Hibberd, ILG’s Quality Assurance Manager.

Craig and Chris applied for the new roles and, after meeting the management team at head office, were each awarded an initial six month contract.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris from West Dene said: “I applied for the job in December as it sounded really interesting.  I then met with Pat Hibberd at the head office and was really pleased to hear that I got the job. It’s really interesting and I’m enjoying helping other people with learning disabilities as I think I am very good at it.”

Added Craig from Wild Acres: “The quality assurance assistant job means I can learn new office skills and use the head office’s facilities, including the computers.  I am getting to meet lots of new people and I am really enjoying it.”

Discussing the aims of the new work placement initiative, Pat Hibberd confirmed: “I am continually looking at new ways of involving the service users not only in the running of their own homes, but in the development of new company-wide initiatives.  Both Craig and Chris applied for the new quality assurance assistant roles as they are keen to develop new skills and put in place ideas that will benefit other service users in our care. It’s great to have them both on board.”
